Vietnam, Czech Republic reflect on past, look to future

Vietnam and the Czech Republic reviewed their traditional ties and future cooperation.

The traditional political and economic ties and future cooperationprospects between Vietnam and the Czech Republic were under review at aconference held in Prague on April 20.

Theconference, titled ‘Vietnam, its glorious history and developmentprospects in international integration’, was organised by the Chamber ofDeputies of the Czech Parliament in collaboration with the VietnameseEmbassy in the Central Europe country on the occasion of the 40thanniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and nationalreunification.

Delivering a report titled‘Vietnam in 30 years of reform’, Head of the Party Central Committee’sCommission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan underscored thegreat and historic achievements in building and protecting socialistVietnam.

With the ‘Traditional friendshiprelationship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic over the past 65years and great future prospects’ report, Vietnamese Ambassador TruongManh Son highlighted landmarks in the friendship between the twocountries and measures to boost cooperation in investment, education andtraining, culture, sports and tourism, transport and science andtechnology.

The ambassador called on the CzechRepublic to invest in Vietnam in advantageous fields such as energy,telecommunications, public transport, machinery and equipment, crystalglass and production for export.

He urged thecentral European country to streamline visa procedures for Vietnameseenterprises to conduct business in the country.

During the Year of Vietnamese Culture in the Czech Republic in 2015, anumber of activities will be held including conferences, business forumsand photos exhibitions as well as exchanges in culture, sports, economyand investment.

Vojtech Filip, Vice Presidentof the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, said that bothVietnam and the Czech Republic have respected and effectivelyimplemented signed agreements.

Many reports atthe conference focused on the traditional friendship and cooperation,and the active role of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.-VNA
