Vietnam, Cuba vow to foster multifaceted cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – The 35th meeting of theVietnam-Cuba Inter-Governmental Committee concluded in Hanoi on October 3,reaching a consensus to soon sign a new trade agreement and facilitate theimplementation of investment projects in the two countries.

Vietnamese Minister of Construction Pham Hong Ha said thatat the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue enhancing the efficiency ofthe committee’s operations in a practical and specific manner, and wereunanimous in several new points in cooperative agreements in numerous fields.

Both were determined to lift economic cooperation to matchthe good political ties between the two Parties and countries, Ha stated.

Along with achieved results, there remained severalshortcomings and difficulties that need to be solved in the time ahead, headded.

Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment RodrigoMalmierca Díaz stressed that Vietnam and Cuba are at their best to strengthentheir trade ties.

The two countries plan to conclude negotiations on a newtrade agreement in the fourth quarter of 2017 in order to bring two-way tradeto 500 million USD in the next five years.

Many Vietnamese firms, including Viglacera, Hanel, Tin Thanhand Thai Binh, have worked closely with Cuban partners to get licences fortheir investment in Cuba in construction materials, consumer goods, hotel, andrenewable energy.

At the meeting, the ministers also agreed on cooperationpossibilities in potential aspects such as tourism and medical tourism.-VNA
