Havana (VNA) – President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez, and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Duc Hai co-chaired the first session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Havana on September 24.
The two sides reaffirmed their determination to support and further strengthen the special traditional solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, while highlighting the important role of parliamentary cooperation in consolidating and further promoting the special solidarity between the two nations.
Representatives of the two legislative bodies listened to reports on bilateral cooperation, while proposing solutions and recommended amendments and supplements to policies and laws to help address difficulties and obstacles, towards enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, especially in economy, finance, trade, and investment.
Delegates exchanged opinions and shared experiences in building and perfecting policies and laws with a view to promoting bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy, finance, investment, energy, science, technology, and health, tailored to the conditions and circumstances of each country. They also reviewed the achieved results, and proposed measures to improve the effectiveness of the implementation of the signed cooperation agreements between the two nations.
The two sides underlined the need to expand inter-parliamentary ties between Vietnam and Cuba, and agreed to strengthen close coordination both bilaterally and in international and regional forums; enhance capacity of coordinating and monitoring to effectively implement the cooperation documents signed between the two countries.
Hai took the occasion to convey an invitation from Vietnamese NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man to his Cuban counterpart Esteban Lazo Hernandez, to attend the second session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Vietnam./.

The traditional solidarity and special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba is a valuable legacy, highly cherished by the Party, State, and people of both countries. This relationship continues to flourish across all channels. Cuba's top leadership has affirmed that Vietnam is a “strategic ally” and “the most trusted international partner.” The relationship between the two parties has deepened, serving as the political foundation and guiding the development of cooperative ties between the two nations.
