Hanoi (VNA) – Deputyspokeswoman of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang has saidprotecting and promoting human rights is Vietnam’s consistent policy.

She made thestatement during the ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on March 23in response to the US Department of State’s March 20 announcement of the annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices for2022, which mentioned that some Asian countries, including Vietnam, had"seriously and systematically violated human rights".

Hangsaid Vietnam always considers human beings the centre and driving force of national renovationand development, always strives for the goal of improving people'slives, ensuring their right to enjoyment and leaving no one behind. The fundamentalrights and freedom of human beings are enshrined in the Constitution ofVietnam, protected and promoted by specific legal documents, andenforced in practice.

Vietnamregrets that the US Department of State's 2022 Annual Human Rights Reports have made biased assessments based on inaccurate information about the actualsituation in Vietnam, she said.

Sheadded that Vietnam is always ready to talk about differences with the US straightforwardlyand openly in a constructive spirit to enhance mutual understanding andcontribute to the development of comprehensive partnership between Vietnam andthe US./.
