Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam always considers Japan its top and long-timepartner, said Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong while receiving newlyappointed Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio in Hanoi on December 14.

Hecongratulated the ambassador on taking office when the bilateral strategicpartnership is thriving.

The Partyleader said he believes that the diplomat, with his experience, will makeactive contributions to deepening the relationship during his tenure.

Pleasedwith robust growth of the ties since the Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam-JapanRelations was issued in September 2015, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trongstressed the importance of increasing high-level exchanges and meetings tocement political trust and pragmatic cooperation in all fields.

He welcomedupcoming visits to Vietnam by Japanese leaders, including the one by the Emperor and Empress.

The Partyleader also expected Japan to continue supporting Vietnam during itsdevelopment process.

For hispart, Umeda Kunio noted that theJapanese Government pays heed to boosting comprehensive collaboration withVietnam, particularly via high-ranking delegation exchanges.

Thediplomat said he will do his utmost to stimulate the growth of Vietnam-Japanrelations in line with the Joint Vision Statement, firstly by working withVietnamese agencies in organising Japanese leaders’ upcoming Vietnam visits.

He wishedto receive support from the Vietnamese Party and State to accomplish hismissions during the time in Vietnam.-VNA
