Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam congratulates Myanmar on the establishment of its new Government, said Foreign Ministry Vice Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang on March 31.
Hang extended the congratulations while replying to reporters’ queries about Vietnam’s response to Aung San SuuKyi’s election as head of several ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As a co-ASEAN member, Vietnam always wishes to further develop the time-honoured all-round cooperation relations it has with Myanmar, for the interests of the two countries’ people, she said.
Vietnam has worked together with Myanmar and other ASEAN members to contribute to intra-bloc solidarity, for peace and stability in the region, the Vice Spokesperson stated.
On March 30, U Htin Kyaw, a member of Myanmar’s National League for Democracy (NLD) party, was sworn in as President of Myanmar in the capital of Nay Pyi Taw.
The military-assigned First Vice President Myint Swe and the Second Vice President Henry Van Thio – another NLD member also took the oath of office in the presence of Parliament Speaker Win Khaing Than.
Htin Kyaw’s cabinet was also sworn in at the President’s office in Nay Pyi Taw on the same day.
Leader of the ruling NLD party, Aung San Suu Kyi, has been assigned as the new Foreign Minister, as well as Minister of the President's Office, Minister of Education, and Minister of Electric Power and Energy.-VNA
