HCM City (VNA) – Leaders of the Vietnam SupremePeople’s Court (VSPC) had a working session with a visiting delegation from theSupreme People’s Court of China in Ho Chi Minh City on September 18 to seekways to increase professional exchange.
At the session, Le Hong Quang, member of the Communist Partyof Vietnam Central Committee and Deputy Chief Justice of the VSPC, stated theChinese delegation’s visit to Vietnam affirms a close cooperation between thetwo courts, thus reflecting the friendship between the Vietnamese and Chineseparties and governments.
Agreeing with Quang, Zhou Qiang, President of the SupremePeople’s Court of China, said the court collaboration has recorded various milestonesover the past years, with Chief Justice of the Vietnam Supreme People's Court NguyenHoa Binh’s visit to China last May.
Zhou said the two countries’ judicial systems sharesimilarities, including the overload of cases that need to be handled each yearin major cities.
Noting the development of precedents in Vietnam over thepast three years, he said the Supreme People’s Court of China has an institute onprecedents which studies judges’ indictments to form precedents.
He expected the two sides will step up experience exchangeand cooperation in the field.
Also at the working session, Chief Judge of the Ho Chi MinhCity People’s Court Ung Thi Xuan Huong introduced the guests to the municipaljustice system, which has 600 judges, each tackling 12 – 15 cases per month.The number of cases in the city accounts for one six of the entire nation’sfigure.-VNA
