Vietnam, China hold sixth talk round on sea area off Tonkin Gulf

The working group of Vietnam and China held the sixth round of talks on the sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tonkin in Beijing from December 10-12.
The working group of Vietnam and China held the sixth round of talks onthe sea area beyond the mouth of the Gulf of Tonkin in Beijing fromDecember 10-12.

During the talks, the two sides affirmedthey will work hard to realise the common perception of the twocountries’ high-ranking leaders on steadily accelerating negotiations onthe demarcation of maritime boundaries in the waters off the mouth ofthe Gulf of Tonkin, while actively promoting cooperation for mutualdevelopment in these waters.

Technical expertsdiscussed specific plans to conduct a joint survey of a section of thewaters as agreed earlier. The survey aims to serve the boundarydemarcation goal and win-win cooperation in these waters in line withinternational law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on theLaw of the Sea.-VNA
