Ottawa(VNA) – A delegation from the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association led by itsPresident Nguyen Viet Tien had an exchange meeting with their peers from theCanada-Vietnam Society in Toronto, Canada on September 14.
The meeting was partof activities of the Vietnamese Culture Week in Canada from September 11-17.
At the event, Tien,who is also Deputy Minister of Health, highlighted that exchange of the twoassociations will help strengthen connections between people of Vietnam andCanada.
Meanwhile, GeneralSecretary of the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thu Giangsaid that the friendship between Vietnam and Canada has developed stronglyafter the Vietnam visit of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in November,2017 and the Canada visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in June, 2018.
Over the past years,the association has held various activities to connect people of both sides,including a logo design contest on the occasion of the 45th anniversary ofVietnam-Canada diplomatic relations.
A representative fromthe Canada-Vietnam Society, Philip Fernandez, said that since the society wasformed in 2016, it has developed a network covering many big cities of Canadasuch as Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver and Surey.
He expressed his hopeto get better understanding of the nation and people of Vietnam and thecountry’s development in all fields.
Nguyen Dai Trang, arepresentative of the Canada-Vietnam Society in Toronto, said that the societyhopes for more support from the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association inorganising visits to Vietnam for Canadian friends, thus giving them deeperunderstanding of Vietnam and creating foundations for the two countries toenhance its education, economic, cultural partnership and people-to-peopleexchange.-VNA
