Vietnam, Cambodia localities cooperate in disaster control

The Mekong Delta province of An Giang and the Disaster Management Committee (DMC) of Cambodia ’s Kandal province have jointly held a seminar on urgent cross-border cooperation in disaster control between the two neighbours.

“The An Giang-Kandal UrgentCross-border Cooperation” is one of the five components of a programmeon flood management and mitigation in the Mekong River , whichbegan in June 2007.

The programme focuses onresearch and rescue work, information exchange on storm and floodforecasts, health care, as well as agricultural, seafood and veterinarycooperation.

The participants at the seminaragreed that the cooperation between the two provinces has beenimplemented under signed contents.

However,localities in An Giang province should provide more support for theirCambodian neighbours, especially in medical check-ups and treatment,mushroom growing and vaccination for livestock./.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
