According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment,titanium-contained sand is mainly found along the coast from centralThanh Hoa province to the northern area of southern Ba Ria -Vung Tauprovince.
Up to 83 percent of the sand is found incentral Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces and the northern area of BaRia - Vung Tau.
Experts said the resource of titaniumsand ore in Vietnam is very large, ensuring long-term, sustainablesupply for the processing industry.
Under theapproved plan on exploring, mining, processing and using titanium orefor the 2007-2015 period with orientations towards 2025, the regions oftitanium mining include Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa - Ha Tinh, Quang Tri -Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh - Phu Yen, and Binh Thuan - Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
For the 2016-2020 period, the titanium ore miningand processing industries will be established, providing such productsas titanium slag, gigment, titanium sponge, and titanium metal.
Binh Thuan will be developed into a large-scale titanium ore miningand processing centre that helps meet domestic and export demand.-VNA
