New York (VNA) – Vietnam has expressed support forall-society approach to national reconciliation and harmony, building an unitedsociety resistant to risks of extremism and terrorism.
During the Arria-formula meeting of the UnitedNations Security Council (UNSC) in New York on July 28, head of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the UN, Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy said the UNSC’s resolutionsrecognise a need to incorporate gender issues into efforts to preventextremism, deal with conflicts or build peace. Therefore, it is necessary torecognise women’s different roles as well as promote their leadership role inthe fight against terrorism.
According to him, the process also needs totake into account the role of men and gender bias.
He also backed countries in continuing to share experience in incorporating gender aspects into national plans and policies andpromote thorough study and discussions on the issue.
Participants at the event also highlighted aneed to study the issue thoroughly and promote the comprehensive approach togender issues./.
