Vietnam, Australia foster military ties

Thevisit from November 8-12, led by Chief of the General Staff of theVietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, Senior LieutenantGeneral Do Ba Ty, aims to strengthen the friendly relations and defencecooperation between Vietnam and Australia.

The two sides willdiscuss their respective country’s national defence contexts, regionalissues of shared concern and measures to effectively implementcooperation within the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding onDefence Cooperation" signed in 2010 in the line with theVietnam-Australia comprehensive partnership.

The promotion ofbilateral defence ties between the two countries looks to contribute tothe maintenance of peace, stability and development in the region.-VNA
