Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Hoang Vinh Thanh has paid a workingvisit to Darwin, the capital city of Australia’s Northern Territory, toseek cooperation opportunities between the region and Vietnameselocalities.
At meetings with Attorney GeneralJohn Elferink and other high-ranking officials of the Northern TerritoryGovernment, Ambassador Thanh discussed the possibility of furtherintensifying cooperation in economics, trade, education and trainingbetween the two sides.
He voiced his thanks tothe government for its help to and creating favourable conditions forthe Vietnamese community in the region.
Withlarge potential in cattle breeding, oil and gas exploitation and mining,particularly uranium, cooperation between northern Australia andVietnamese localities will be further developed in the coming time.
The government’s representative informed Thanh that the region’sChief Minister Adam Graham Giles will visit Vietnam in a near future tostrengthen ties, especially in economics and trade, between the twosides.
During his visit, the Vietnamese diplomatalso witnessed the signing ceremony of a contract on handing over the11th cow lot from northern Australian exporters to the Hai PhongAnimal and Poultry Products Import-Export Corporation. Vietnam is nowAustralia’s second biggest live cattle importer, after Indonesia.-VNA
