Vietnam attends UNIDO projects

The Prime Minister has approved Vietnam’s participation in a regional project funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) as part of efforts to implement the Stockholm Convention of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP).
The Prime Minister has approved Vietnam’s participation in a regionalproject funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation(UNIDO) as part of efforts to implement the Stockholm Convention ofPersistent Organic Pollutants (POP).

The project, which will usenon-refundable aid sourced by the Global Environmental Facility Fund(GEF), will focus on demonstrating best available techniques (BAT) andbest environmental practices (BEP) in open burning activities inresponse to the Stockholm Convention.

The PM assigned theMinistry of Nature Resources and Environment (MoNRE) to cooperate withUNIDO to complete documents and sign the project with sponsoringpartners, as well as to implement the project in line with theregulations.

The projects is expected to help reduce theunintentional emission of POPs by industrial sectors in Vietnam,contributing to protecting the environment and human’s health,especially during the country’s industrialization and modernizationperiod.-VNA
