Vietnam attends Leipzig Trade Fair in Germany

Vietnam has attended the 2019 Leipzig Trade Fair, which opened in Leipzig city of Germany’s Sachsen-Anhalt state on February 23, as the event’s main partner country for the first time.

Berlin (VNA) – Vietnam has attended the2019 Leipzig Trade Fair, which opened in Leipzig city of Germany’s Sachsen-Anhaltstate on February 23, as the event’s main partner country for the first time.

More than 40 businesses from Ho Chi Minh City, which has set up twining tieswith Leipzig city, are showcasing their products at the fair, including farmproduce, handicrafts, food, leather and footwear.

At the opening ceremony, Sachsen-Anhalt state’s Governor Reiner Haselhoff andother German delegates spoke highly of relations between Germany and Vietnam ingeneral and the two cities in particular.

HCM City and Leigpzig have cooperated in such areas as training, nursing,vocational training, clean water, electricity and energy.

As the main partner of the fair, Vietnam will have favourable conditions toenhance its economic links with Germany across fields, they said.

In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Minh Vu said Vietnam’sparticipation in the event would help consolidate and deepen the strategicpartnership between the two countries.

The Leipzig Trade Fair, which will last until March 3, is one of the biggest andmost successful consumer fairs in Germany, attracting about 1,000 firms from 20countries and territories this year.-VNA
