A Vietnamese Party delegation participated in the special conference on the Silk Road of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 25th meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee, held in Beijing, China from October 14 to 16.
At the conference hosted by the Communist Party of China, delegates from more than 60 political parties and organisations from 32 countries hailed the goals and significance of China’s One Belt and One Road initiative.
They stressed the principles of broad counsel, win-win co-operation and mutual benefit towards the goal of sustainable development for all countries.
Participants also called for respect for the principles of the UN Charter and countries’ sovereignty, ensuring a peaceful, stable environment in the process of building and implementing co-operative initiatives.
The conference adopted a joint statement stressing political parties’ commitment to promoting dialogue and co-operation for the people’s interests and common prosperity.
The 25th meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee reviewed ICAPP activities and approved action plans for the near future. The meeting reiterated the resolve to push forward with the ICAPP’s key objectives, including winning observer status of the UN General Assembly, strengthening ties with partners in Africa and Latin America while expanding relations with key political parties in Europe.
The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs Tran Dac Loi, made active contributions to discussions at the two events .
The delegation also held bilateral meetings with officials from the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee’s International Liaison Department and several other political parties.-VNA.
