Vietnam attends education union congress in Mexico

Mexico (VNA) - A delegation from the Vietnam General Confederation ofLabour (VGCL) led by Vice President Nguyen Thi Thu Hong joined 65international delegations at the 18thCongress of the Foundation for InternationalSpace Education (FISE) in Mexico from March 4-5.

In his speech at the event, President of the VGCL’s Vietnam EducationTrade Union Vu Minh Duc praised efforts made by FISE in protecting therights of workers in the education sector.

He said his agency wishes to expand cooperation with educationaltrade unions across the world, thus enhancing experience sharing in education andlabour union activities.

The organisation is workingto protect the rights and interests of teachers and employees in the field, hesaid.

He added that the Vietnam Education Trade Union is an active member of the ASEANCouncil of Teacher – a forum for sharing experience in union activities among ASEANmember countries’ education sectors, thus promoting education-training reforms ineach country.

On the sidelines of the event, Vietnamese delegates met with General Secretaryof the National Coordination of Education Workers ofMexico Victor Manuel Zavala, and Deputy General Secretary of the World Federation ofTrade Unions Valentin Pacho, during which they discussed how to boost educationunion-related connection between Vietnam and Mexico.-VNA
