Buenos Aires (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Dinh Quy and his Argentineancounterpart Carlos Foradori chaired the seventh political consultation betweenthe two countries in Buenos Aires on December 5.
The two sides lauded the sound bilateralcooperation and pledged to expand partnerships.
They reviewed the implementation of theagreements reached at the fifth meeting of the Vietnam-Argentinainter-governmental committee on economic, trade and science-technologycooperation, which took place in Hanoi earlier this month.
Foradori voiced his wish to bolster relationswith Asian-Pacific countries and to join the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation inSoutheast Asia.
He and Quy agreed to continue enhancing theirnations’ coordination at multilateral forums, including the Forum for EastAsia-Latin America Cooperation.
They emphasised the importance of peacefulsettlement of disputes on the basis of international law and the United NationsCharter.
They also discussed issues relating to regionalintegration, migration, human trafficking and organised crime.
Vietnam and Argentina set up diplomaticrelations on October 25, 1973. They have enjoyed growing ties in recent years,especially in trade.
Vietnam is a leading Asian trade partner ofArgentina. Bilateral trade hit 2.5 billion USD in 2015, a year-on-year increaseof 27 percent. The figure is expected to reach 3 billion USD this year.-VNA
