Hanoi (VNA) – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced to cancel10 flights from/to Cam Ranh International Airport and Lien Khuong Airport onNovember 4 as Typhoon Damrey is likely to slam into the central coast ofVietnam.
VietnamAirlines cancelled eight flights, coded VN9556, VN9561, VN1557, VN7554, VN1944,VN1945, VN1344 and VN9351, between Hanoi, Da Nang, HCM City and Cam RanhAirport in central Khanh Hoa province to avoid the impacts of the typhoon.
It alsocalled off other two from/to Lien Khuong Airport, coded VN1380 and VN1381,connecting HCM City and Da Lat city in the Central Highlands province of LamDong.
Thecarrier plans to reschedule the flights on the following day, November 5.
Budgetairline Jetstar Pacific will also change departure and arrival times of severalflights on November 4 to ensure travel safety.
The twocompanies warned that there will be delays in some of their domestic flightsdue to the storm and advised passengers who plan to fly from/to airports in CamRanh, Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa, Da Lat, Pleiku and Buon Ma Thuot to regularly checkweather reports and notifications from the airlines.

According to the National Centre forHydro-meteorological Forecasting, a tropical depression on the East Sea had gained strength tobecome Typhoon Damrey on morning of November 2.
At that time, the storm was at level 8 (of 18), however, whencoming ashore, it can reach levels 10 to 13. Observatories in Hong Kong andJapan forecasted that storm Damrey can reach levels 11 to 14 (of 18), posingsevere weather threats.
By 13:00 on November 3, the storm was about 350 km east off thecoast of Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan provinces, with sustained wind speedof 115-135 km per hour, causing heavy downpours from Quang Tri to Binh Thuanprovinces.-VNA
