Hanoi (VNA) – Low-cost carrier VietJetand Safran Group have signed an agreement for the supply of fuel efficiencysolutions during the Paris Airshow 2017 in France.
According to VietJet Air, the SFCO2 servicecontract, which is valid from 2017 to 2020, will help VietJet improve itsoperational efficiency by reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emission.
The SFCO2 solutions combine the expertise ofSafran Aircraft Engines - one of the world’s leading aero-engine manufacturers- with the experience of Safran Electronics and Defense in flight dataanalysis.
As an important component of VietJet’s fuelefficiency programme, Safran’s SFCO2 service will enable the carrier to meet itsfuel consumption efficiency objectives and business targets at the same time,VietJet Vice President Dinh Viet Phuong said at the signing ceremony.
Francois Planaud, Safran Deputy Director Generalsaid Safran’s SFCO2 service can help reduce VietJet’s fuel consumption by up to5 percent. Accordingly, the fuel expense saved yearly is expected to reach tensof millions of USD.
Vietjet is the first airline in Vietnam to operate as a new-age airline with low-cost and diversified services to meet customers’ demands. It provides not only transport services but also uses the latest e-commerce technologies to offer various products and services for consumers.
The airline is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate. It was also named as one of the Top 500 Brands in Asia 2016 by global marketing research company Nielsen and “Best Asian Low Cost Carrier” at the TTG Travel Awards 2015, which compiles votes from travellers, travel agencies and tour operators in throughout Asia. The airline was also rated as one of the top three fastest growing airline brands on FaceBook in the world by Socialbakers.
Currently, Vietjet boasts a fleet of 40 aircraft, including A320s and A321s, and operates 350 flights each day. It has already opened 53 routes in Vietnam and across the region to international destinations such as Thailand, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, China and Myanmar.
