The two sides agreed to continue increasingvisits by senior leaders, coordinating in realising agreements reachedduring the 37th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Joint Committee, andpreparing for the 38th meeting of the committee, slated for later thisyear in Laos.
The leaders concurred that the twocountries will also work together in organising big anniversaries ofboth countries, including the 70 th National Day of Vietnam, the 40thNational Day of Laos and the 95th birth anniversary of late LaoPresident Kayson Phomvihane.
They agreed to effectivelyimplement agreements between the two Foreign Ministries, including theorganisation of the annual ministerial consultation meeting in late2015.
Vietnam and Laos will work for the early signing of aprotocol on borderline and border marker as well as a treaty on theregulations for border and border gate management before the end of2015, they said.
The two leaders pledged to push theeffectively implementation of the new Vietnam-Laos trade agreement andthe bilateral border trade agreement, while speeding up energy andtransport connectivity projects.
Vietnam will step upinvestment projects in Laos and coordinating with the Lao side inreviewing the projects for timely settlement of investors’ difficulties.Both countries will also continue with the project to enhance bilateralcooperation in education and human resources development for the2011-20 period.
During the talks, the two Vice Presidents also discussed regional and international of shared concern.
They concurred to foster coordination at regional and internationalforums, while working with other ASEAN countries for the successfulformation of the ASEAN Community later this year, as well as themaintenance of the bloc’s central role in strategic matters of theregion.
The two sides stressed the importance ofmaintaining peace, stability and maritime and aviation safety andsecurity in the East Sea in line with international law and the UnitedNations Convention on the Law of the Sea, as well as the strictimplementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the EastSea (DOC) and the soon formation of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan pledged that Vietnam will support Laos in performing the role of the ASEAN Chair in 2016.
On the occasion, Bounnhang Vorachith invited Vice President Doan tovisit Laos within this year and received her acceptance.
After the talks, Vice President Doan hosted a banquet for her counterpart and the Lao delegation.
The Lao Vice President is on an official visit at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart from July 6-8.-VNA
