Hanoi​ (VNA)– The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson, the guided missile cruiser USS LakeChamplain and the destroyer USS USS Wayne E.Meyer of the US Navy will make agoodwill visit to Vietnam’s central city of Da Nang from March 5-9, saidForeign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang.

At the Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on March 1, Hangsaid the visit is made at the permission of the Vietnamese Government.

A number ofactivities were scheduled for the visit, including a welcome ceremony, a pressconference, courtesy visits, technical exchanges, sports matches, and othercommunity activities.

The visit realizesthe agreement reached by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders in the joint statementissued by Vietnam and the US during US President Donald Trump’s visit toVietnam in November 2017. It looks to continue promoting the two countries’ties to match their comprehensive partnership, contributing to maintainingpeace, stability, security, cooperation, and development in the region, thespokesperson noted.-VNA
