Dong Nai (VNA) - The southern province of Dong Nai had a meetingon May 9 with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to discuss aproject to give technical support to the province, aiming to prevent andcontrol HIV/AIDS in the locality.
USAID representatives said that the project’s objectives includebroadening the coverage of HIV treatment and helping Dong Nai becomeself-reliant in maintaining the supply of the services.
According to the Dong Nai Centre for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control,the province has had nearly 8,000 people living with HIV/AIDS since 1993. Ofwhom, nearly 4,300 are under management. The province has lost track of 1,100patients, while the others died.
The province is striving to complete the 90-90-90target by 2020, with 90 percent of people living with HIV knowing theirconditions, 90 percent receiving antiretroviral (ARV) treatment and 90 percentof those taking ARV therapy having viral suppression. So far, the locality hasfulfilled the target by 68-46.5-93 percent respectively.
During the project, USAID will assist Dong Nai in fiveaspects, including accessing patients, testing, treatment, health insurance andstrategic information.
At the meeting, USAID representatives said the projectwill begin in September 2018 and last until 2030.-VNA
