The ceremony was attended byrepresentatives from the Board of Directors of Vietnam Office forSeeking Missing Personnel (VNOSMP), Ms. Rena Bitters, the US ConsulGeneral in Ho Chi Minh City, and representatives of the US DefenseAttache Office, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), and the USMIA Office in Hanoi.
Two boxes of remains from the 118th Joint Field Activities from February to April, 2015 were handed over to the US side.
Theremains had been jointly reviewed and concluded by Vietnam and USforensic specialists that they might be associated with the USservicemen missing during the war in Vietnam and were recommended tobring to Hawaii, the United States, for further review.
Addressingat the Repatriation Ceremony, the US Government representativeexpressed deep gratitude and appreciation for the steadfast humanitarianpolicy, good-will and the increasingly efficient cooperation of theVietnam Government and people.
The search for the remains of USservicemen missing during the war in Vietnam is humanitarian cooperationbetween the Governments of Vietnam and the US.
This is the 134 th hand-over of American missing servicemen’s remains since 1973.-VNA
