The US will allocate more than 100 million USD to support Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines in boosting law enforcement capabilities at sea, unveiled Barack Obama’s administration on October 8.
The sum has been quadruped since the initial pledge of 25 million USD announced by Secretary of State John Kerry in December 2013.
Having no connection to disputes in the regional waters, the move is intended to cement collaboration with the four benefiting nations in law enforcement, security and marine freedom.
According to US Assistant Secretary of State William Brownfield, there are three basic protocols to ensure maritime security in the East Sea including halting artificial land construction and military actions at sea.-VNA
