Binh Phuoc (VNA) – The Association for Poor Patients in Ho Chi Minh City andthe Latter Day Saint Charities of the US have presented 77 wheelchairs to thedisabled in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.
At a ceremony heldon September 24 by the two organizations and the province’s Department ofLabour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the wheelchairs worth more than 282million VND (nearly 12,200 USD) were delivered directly to beneficiaries.
Walker King, arepresentative from the Latter Day Saint Charities, said his organization isimplementing several projects to support the disabled in Vietnam.
He said thewheelchairs were bought with donations from philanthropists worldwide, who wantto help less fortunate people.
There are around8,300 disabled people receiving social assistance in Binh Phuoc, of whom nearly2,370 are in specially disadvantaged circumstances./.
