Upcoming ASEAN Summits to run virtually given COVID-19

Brunei will host the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits virtually via 11 video conferences on October 26-28 amid concerns over the unsettled COVID-19 situation across the region, informed the Brunei Prime Minister's Office on October 23.
Hanoi (VNA) – Brunei will host the 38th and 39thASEAN Summits and Related Summits virtually via 11 videoconferences on October 26-28 amid concerns over the unsettled COVID-19 situationacross the region, informed the Brunei Prime Minister's Office on October 23.

Accordingly, the ASEAN Summit, which carries the theme "We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper", is expectedto discuss on a number of agendas such as further strengthening the resilienceof the ASEAN Community towards regional recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic;enhancing the preparedness of ASEAN in addressing common challenges; seizingnew opportunities in pursuit of shared prosperity; and maintaining cooperationtowards achieving the region's long-term goals.

The event will be joined by the leaders of ASEAN and its dialoguepartners including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, US, Australia,and Russia./.
