Up to 24,000 meth pills seized in Dien Bien

Law enforcement authorities of northern Dien Bien province on September 27 arrested one drug trafficker and seized 24,000 methamphetamine pills.

Dien Bien (VNA) - Law enforcement authoritiesof northern Dien Bien province on September 27 arrested one drug trafficker andseized 24,000 methamphetamine pills.

According to Le Ba Long, Head of the DrugCrime Investigation Department of the provincial Border Guard Command, atransnational drug ring was detected transporting drugs from Oudomxay provinceto Muong May district in Phongsaly province of Laos, and then selling themin Vietnam’s Dien Bien province.

Two suspects, were discovered travelling from Muong May districtto Vietnam’s Tay Trang border gate in Dien Bien province. One of them, named CuChan Ly, was arrested in possession of 24,000 amphetamine pills, while the otherescaped.

The detainedsuspect, a Lao national, born in 1996, said he and the other suspect bought thedrugs and intended to sell them in Vietnam, according to police.

The case is under further investigation.-VNA
