Dong Nai (VNA) – The southern province of Dong Naiestimated local agro-forestry-fishery production value at 17.17 trillion VND(over 756.8 million USD) in the first half of 2017, up 2.48 percent year onyear.

The provincial People’s Committee saidproduction value was about 16.1 trillion VND (709.69 million USD) inagriculture, 127 billion VND (5.6 million USD) in forestry, and 911 billion VND(40.1 million USD) in fishery.

The figures respectively increased by 2.3percent, 1.84 percent and 5.81 percent from a year earlier.

The committee attributed the slower growth inagricultural production value to falling sales of animal products, especiallypork.

Difficulties in selling pork has shrunk pigfarming, the committee said, adding that it ordered authorities and sectors tosupport farmers by opening stores selling pork at stabilised prices andencouraging local organisations and businesses to consume more pork.
