Hanoi (VNA) - Two Vietnameseuniversities have been named among the top 1,000 universities in the world,according to the annual Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings inthe UK.
They are Vietnam National University - HCM City which wasranked in the 701st-750th category, and Vietnam National University - Hanoi whichis in the 801st‑1,000th group.
Four US universities – The Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology, Stanford University, Harvard University, and the CaliforniaInstitute of Technology maintained their top positions in the rankings. Theyare followed by the United Kingdom’s University of Oxford.
The universities were evaluated on the basis of sixcriteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio,citations per faculty, international lecturer ratio, and international studentratio.
The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication ofuniversity rankings by London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Being the onlyinternational ranking to have received International Ranking Expert Group(IREG) approval, the QS ranking is viewed as one of the three most widely-readuniversity rankings in the world, along with the Academic Ranking of WorldUniversities and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The QS World University Rankings evaluates universitiesaccording to six metrics - Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, andFaculty/Student Ratio, as well as Citations per faculty, International FacultyRatio, and International Student Ratio.
Earlier this year, five Vietnamese universities were listedamong the best 400 Asian universities for 2018. They included Vietnam NationalUniversity – Hanoi (139th), Vietnam National University - HCM City (142nd),Hanoi University of Technology (291st) and Can Tho University (in groups 301st-350th)and Hue University (group 351st-400th).-VNA
