Two men prosecuted for disturbing social order in HCM City

– The investigation agency of Ho ChiMinh City public security force on June 15 issued decisions on bringing prosecutionagainst and detaining two men for disturbing social order.

One of the men is Nguyen William Anh, born 1985 and a UScitizen, who stayed at Ward 5, District 3.

According to police’s investigation and Nguyen William Anh’sstatement, Nguyen William Anh entered Vietnam on June 9 as a tourist.

On June 10, Nguyen William Anh joined the crowd in causingdisorder on the Nguyen Van Troi-Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street. At the Nam Ky KhoiNghia-Ly Chinh Thang intersection in District 3, Nguyen William Anh directlyasked authorised forces to remove specialised vehicles for the crowd to pass.When his request was not met, Nguyen William Anh climbed on to a specialisedvehicle and called on the crowd to cross through.

His acts were recorded in video by the authorised forces,which was evidence for his disturbance of social order. The city police issuedarrest warrants in emergency on June 12 and 14 for Nguyen William Anh, followedby decisions on temporary custody and first-time extension of temporary custodyof him.

After consolidating files and evidence, on June 15, themunicipal police issued decisions on prosecution against and temporarydetention of Nguyen William Anh for disturbing social order.

The other man prosecuted and detained is Truong Huu Loc,born 1961 and residing in Tan Binh district. According to the investigationagency, Loc regularly livestreamed on his Facebook account to call on people tostage demonstrations. Loc directly incited people to gather and cause disordersin recent days.

HCM City public security force has determined that exilereactionary organisations had played a role in inciting and providing funds forelements in the country to organise and incite people to take to the street andcause disorders.-VNA
