Manila (VNA) -A clash took place in southern Philippines’ Basilan in early morning on November 8, leaving two terrorists dead and three government soldiers wounded.
The slain bandits were identified as Abdulhasan Yusop Sanajalun, alias Bullet, leader of the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG), and his follower Halid Calbie, said Colonel Rolando Joselito Bautista, commander of Joint Task Group Basilan.
The government troopers seized firearms, cellular phones and personal belongings from the two.
Sanajalun was allegedly involved in a series of killings of military and police personnel, retailers and foreign nationals in the Philippines.
Founded in the early 1990s by Islamic extremists, the ASG is known for a series of kidnappings, bombings and bloodshed killings across southern Philippines in the past decades.-VNA
