Transport ministry urges COVID-19 vaccination support at key traffic projects in southern region

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has sent a written request to the Ministry of Health seeking the support of 5,500 doses of vaccine for officials and workers at key transport projects in the southern region which are currently under construction.

Hanoi (VNA) – TheMinistry of Transport (MoT) has sent a written request to the Ministry ofHealth seeking the support of 5,500 doses of vaccine for officials and workersat key transport projects in the southern region which are currently underconstruction.

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho said that this is an urgent solutionand has a direct impact on ensuring the progress and quality of disbursement ofconstruction investment projects under the direction of the PrimeMinister. 

Once the vaccine is available, the Ministry of Transport will assign its transport health department to direct the Ho Chi Minh City Transportation Hospital and transportation hospitals in the areas where the projects are implemented, cooperatewith local Centres for Disease Control, the project management boards, andcontractors to organise vaccination for workers, the MoT said.

These units would have to ensure it meets the MoH’s requirements as well as pandemic prevention and control regulations.

According to the Deputy Minister, the MoT is actively implementing key nationalprojects such as the ones to upgrade the runway at Tan Son Nhat airport, the My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway, North-South Expressway at VinhHao - Phan Thiet section, My Thuan 2 bridge and Long Thanh airport.

However, they faced many difficulties during the implementation of the projects dueto the impact of the fourth wave of COVID-19. Most of the labourersworking on large projects have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19, he said./.
