Illustrative image (Source: VNA)Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Transport has proposedthree investment options to construct a north – south highway in a document submittedto the Prime Minister signed by Deputy Minister Nguyen Nhat.
According to the proposal, the highway would be 1,372kilometres long, beginning at the Cao Bo intersection in the northern provinceof Nam Dinh and ending at the Dau Giay intersection in the southern province ofDong Nai.
The project will need investment estimated at 314 trillionVND (13.82 billion USD), of which 148 trillion VND (6.53 billion USD) will besourced from investors.
Under Resolution No. 26/2016 of the National Assembly onmid-term public investment plan from 2016 – 2020, and the Government’s plan onallocating funds for public projects in the period, the ministry plans toallocate around 41.4 trillion VND to the north-south highway project, accordingto the document.
The Transport Ministry devised the three options on suchbasis.
In the first option, the project will build three sectionswith a combined length of 467 kilometres of the highway under the form of Buildand Transfer (BT), with 41 trillion VND (1.82 billion USD) to be sourced fromthe State budget.
With the second option, 916 kilometres of the highway will bebuilt, also in the BT form, with the Government providing 63 trillion VND (2.77billion USD)
For the third option, the state budget will provide 70trillion VND (3.08 billion USD), and 1,015 kilometres will be built.
In order to meet transport demand and balance Statefunding for the Transport Ministry’s key transport infrastructure projects, theministry prefers option one, the document said.-VNA
