The course washeld by the EU-funded Environmentally and Socially Responsible TourismCapacity Development Programme for the first time in Vietnam (alsoknown as the EU project).
Participants, who wereselected carefully and most of them trained in the Vietnam TourismOccupancy Standard (VTOS), became trainers of responsible tourism inVietnam after the course.
They are scheduled tohold 12 seminars on responsible tourism for 3,000 beneficiaries fromstate agencies, private businesses and local communities, in the comingmonths.
Responsible tourism contributes to enhancingthe competitiveness, bringing benefits to local people, protectingnational resources, and promoting Vietnam 's position in the regionaland global tourism market as an attractive destination.
The EU project, implemented over 2011-2015 by the Vietnam NationalAdministration of Tourism, has a total cost of 12.1 million EUR with 11million EUR sourced from the EU.-VNA
