Hanoi (VNA) – More than 50 overseas Vietnamese teachers from 13 countries and territories are participating in a training course in Hanoi from August 7 – 21.
The event was organised by the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) and the Ministry of Education and Training.
Deputy Chairman of COVA Tran Duc Mau said this year’s programme drew the biggest number of participants yet.
Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Le Ba Trinh said teaching the mother tongue to Vietnamese expatriates is one of the major concerns of the Party, State, Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to maintain the language among the overseas Vietnamese community.
The trainees have an opportunity to share experience and join fact-finding tours to study Vietnamese culture and history.
A workshop was held as part of the programme to highlight the advantages as well as the difficulties in teaching Vietnamese and promoting the country’s culture and history to expatriates.-VNA
