Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 29 people were killed while 32 others were injured in 34road accidents on December 30, the first day of the three-day 2018 Calendar New Year holiday, said theMinistry of Public Security.
Traffic police handled more than6,200 cases of road traffic violations, with total fines of more than 4 billionVND (176,165 USD). Some 845 vehicles were seized and 228 drivers had theirdriving licences revoked.
Meanwhile, waterway traffic police dealt with 159 violating cases, withfines exceeding 143 million VND (about 6,300 USD).
In the first eleven months of 2017, Vietnam recorded 18,384 trafficaccidents that killed 7,604 people. Statistics showed another 15,189 peoplewere injured in accidents, most of which took place on the roads.-VNA
