Hanoi (VNA) – Working meal is expected to be a key topic at the 7th meeting of the 11th Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL)’s Executive Board which opened in Hanoi on December 28.
Low quality and unhygienic workers’ meals have been one of the main causes of several strikes over the past time.
Delegates at the three-day meeting will discuss and approve a resolution relating to meal quality of labourers, with a focus on strengthening trade unions’ supervision over the quality.
The meeting will also see how trade union activities should be conducted in the context of Vietnam’s participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, VGCL President Dang Ngoc Tung asked participants to contribute opinions on ways to fulfil the goal of having 10 million trade union members nationwide and establishing trade unions at 90 percent of units and businesses with at least 30 employees.
During the event, delegates will elect additional members to the Executive Board and the Presidium of the 11th VGCL.-VNA
