At the event (Photo: VNA)Tra Vinh (VNA) – Authoritiesof the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh will work with the provincial startupcommunity to promptly address its troubles, Chairman of the People’s CommitteeDong Van Lam said on September 14.
The official made the pledge during aseminar on startup investment and development in Tra Vinh province, with theparticipation of more than 50 businesses and startups in the locality.
At the event, the startup community sharedcurrent difficulties, particularly obstacles in capital for infrastructure,lack of information on State policies, and the need to build local brands andpartnerships, among others.
The province has launched variousactivities and programmes to support business development, Lam said, speakinghighly of the role of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in theprovincial socio-economic development.
Accordingly, Tra Vinh has built a businessincubator, which provides incentives for investment in all fields, especiallyin areas pertaining to the province’s advantages, such as agriculture,aquaculture, and tourism.
The province will ask relevant agencies toremove barriers in credit sources, legal procedures, technology application,and brand building, creating optimal conditions for local startups, he said.
The Canadian Government has rolled out manyactivities to facilitate SME development in Tra Vinh over the years, and willcontinue to support the province in the building of a startup ecosystem, said JaredBrading, head of the Canadian Embassy to Vietnam’s development cooperationservices who attended the seminar.
The SME Tra Vinh development project isbeing carried out in the province over the 2014-2020 period. It is funded bythe Global Affairs Canada (GAC) with a total investment worth 12.1 million CAD(9.31 million USD).
Of the figure, 11 million CAD came fromCanada’s non-refundable aid, while the remaining was sourced from theprovince’s capital.
To date, about 200 firms and over 194,000people in the province’s 22 communes have benefited from the project.–VNA
