Top Vietnamese, Chinese leaders hold phone talks

Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has proposed Vietnam and China further intensify cooperation, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and promote the bilateral traditional friendship between the two Parties, nations and their people to obtain greater achievements in the new period for the interests of their people and for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese Party General Secretary and StatePresident Nguyen Phu Trong has proposed Vietnam and China further intensifycooperation, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and promote thebilateral traditional friendship between the two Parties, nations and theirpeople to obtain greater achievements in the new period for the interests oftheir people and for peace, cooperation and development in the region and theworld.

The top Vietnamese leader made the suggestion during his phone talks onFebruary 8 with Party General Secretary and State President of China XiJinping.

He stressed that over the past 71 years since the establishment of diplomaticties, despite ups and downs, friendship and cooperation have remained a mainflow in the relationship between the two Parties and countries, with a widerange of activities carried out in different forms, thus contributing to theVietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

Trong thanked the Communist Party of China Central Committee for sending itsgreetings to the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)as well as Xi for his congratulatory message to him.

He emphasized that the 13th National Party Congress was a success and set outmajor targets and directions which play the role as a strategic direction andvision for Vietnam’s cause of renewal and socialism building in the comingtime.

On behalf of the Chinese Party, Government and people, Xi congratulatedthe CPV on the success of its 13th National Congress and Trong on hisre-election as General Secretary of the 13th-tenure CPV Central Committee.

He expressed his belief that under the sound leadership of the CPV headed byTrong, Vietnam will successfully implement the 13th National Party Congress’sResolution and gain new and greater achievements.

Xi affirmed that the Chinese Party, Government and people attach greatimportance to its traditional friendship and neighbourliness with Vietnam, andare willing to step up strategic discussions, boost practical collaboration inall fields with the Vietnamese Party, Government and people, and ceaselessly developthe China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership in a healthyand stable manner, bringing practical benefits to the two nations' people andcontributing to peace and stability in the region and the world.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year – the biggest traditional festival ofboth Vietnam and China, Trong extended his best wishes to all Chinese Partymembers and people, while Xi also offered his greetings to the Vietnamesepeople./.
