Hanoi (VNA) – President of the NationalLegislative Assembly (NLA) of Thailand Pornpetch Wichitcholchai left Hanoi onAugust 16, concluding his four-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitationof National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

During his stay in Vietnam, President Wichitcholchai heldtalks with NA Chairwoman Ngan, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc and met with the Vietnam-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Group.

At these meetings, the two sides expressed their delightat the development of Vietnam-Thailand relations in recent years with theregular exchange of high-ranking delegations.

The two sides agreed that functional agencies of the twolegislatures will closely supervise the implementation of the cooperationagreements signed between the two governments and maintain the exchange of delegationsat all levels while the two parliamentary friendship groups will alsostrengthen their cooperative ties.

They held that parliamentarians of Vietnam and Thailandshould share viewpoints and support each other at international and regionalinter-parliamentary forums in issues of mutual concern, thereby contributing tothe building of a peaceful, stable and developed Asia-Pacific region.

The leaders agreed to create better conditions forbusinesses from the two nations to meet in order to boost bilateral trade andinvestment relations.

Thailand hoped that more Vietnamese investors would do businessin the country, adding thatthe two legislative agencies are ready to work together to resolve obstaclesfacing investors.

They discussed ways to accelerate the signing of a new memorandum of understanding onagricultural cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, and the signing of anagreement on setting up a hotline for offshore fishing activities.-VNA
