Top legislator welcomes Cambodia’s NA Second Vice President

The Vietnamese National Assembly will closely cooperate with the National Assembly and Senate of Cambodia to further expand and improve the efficiency of collaboration between the two governments as well as the two legislatures at regional and international parliamentary forums, the top legislator has said.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese National Assembly will closely cooperatewith the National Assembly and Senate of Cambodia to further expand and improvethe efficiency of collaboration between the two governments as well as the twolegislatures at regional and international parliamentary forums, the toplegislator has said.

At a reception for Second Vice President of the Cambodian NA Khuon Sudary inHanoi on March 22, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said the two sides willwork together to supervise the implementation of international treaties andagreements signed by the two governments to help effectively realise theircooperation deals.

The legislatures will exchange experience in gender equality-related affairs, includingissues regarding female NA deputies, she said, adding that youngparliamentarians will also share their expertise in the time ahead.

The NA Chairwoman congratulated Cambodia on its successful organisation of thegeneral election in 2018, and the Cambodian NA on its successful hosting of the27th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum(APPF-27) in Siem Reap in early 2019, contributing to raising the country’sposition in the international arena.

Ngan suggested that Vietnam and Cambodiashould closely coordinate with each other when Vietnam assumes the ASEANChairmanship, and Cambodia hosts the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting in2020.

She stressed that the Vietnamese legislature and people are delighted at the great,comprehensive achievements the Cambodian people have reaped over the pastyears.

In reply, Khuon Sudary said Cambodia is making concerted efforts to step upnational development to bring prosperity and wealthy to its people.

Cambodia always keeps in mind the greatsupport of the Vietnamese people during the past struggle against the Pol Potgenocidal regime, helping the country revive and develop, she said.

She described the state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary of the CommunistParty of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong last month asa manifestation of the continuous development of the traditional bilateralties.

The Cambodian NA will pay more attentionto and create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese-Cambodians to live inthe country and contribute to local socio-economic development, while ensuringtheir legal status, she said.

Both leaders applauded the outcomes of the border demarcation and markerplanting, which have completed about 84 percent of the workload.

Ngan said the two sides need to make greater efforts to soon fulfill the task.

She also urged competent agencies of the two countries to closely coordinatewith each other in order to ensure quality and efficiency of the works whichare presented by the Vietnamese Party, State and people to the Cambodian NA’sSecretariat and committees.-VNA
