Top legislator meets with female deputies in Vinh Phuc

Vinh Phuc (VNA) –
National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan met with female deputies, ambassadors, and headsof diplomatic missions and international organisations in Vietnam in thenorthern province of Vinh Phuc on March 2 on the occasion of the upcomingInternational Women’s Day (March 8).

She said Vietnamese women today continue playingan important role in the cause of national reform and development.

Earlier this week, Vietnam was honoured to hostthe meetings of the Francophone Parliamentary Assembly (APF)’s Women’sParliamentary Network and the APF Education, Communication and Cultural AffairsCommittee, Ngan said.

Through the events, many issues related to womenwere shared and discussed such as gender equality and women’s rights, theapplication of digital technology in women’s start-ups, and the trafficking ofwomen and children, she added.

Vietnam will continue to be a responsibleparticipant of the women’s parliamentary group in the forums of theInter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA),and the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), she said.

The top legislator asked the Vietnamese women’sparliamentary group to boost a diverse range of activities with new actionprogrammes to increase the role of Vietnamese women as well as femalelegislators in the country’s sustainable development and internationalintegration.

Over the past time, Vietnam has received thesupport of the international community which is represented by femaleambassadors and heads of international organisations in the Southeast Asiancountry, Chairwoman Ngan said.

Through them, Vietnam has got valuableexperience sharing from countries as well as financial and technical support topromote the international integration and realise the targets set in thenational agenda 2030 on sustainable development towards inclusive growth, sheadded.

Armenian Ambassador toVietnam Raisa Vardanyan said Vietnamese women have been playing a crucial rolein the national development. 

Vietnam has gained remarkable achievements inensuring gender equality with women involving in promoting economic growth andworking in the private economic sector, she said.

The country has also implemented initiatives tohelp increase women’s business capacity and leadership, she added.-VNA
