Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese NationalAssembly (NA) always attaches importance to and support the enhancement oftraditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam andCambodia.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made theremarks during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha SenaPadei Techo Hun Sen in Hanoi on December 20. 

Ngan said the Vietnamese NA will work closelywith the Cambodian NA and Senate to boost the expansion and efficiency ofcooperation between the two governments and people as well as between the twolegislatures at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums. 

The top legislator highlighted the fruitfuldevelopment of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between thetwo countries in recent years, saying that PM Hun Sen’s visit marks animportant milestone in Vietnam-Cambodia relations.

Ngan expressed her desire that the two sides willuphold the achievements and deepen bilateral ties in different fields, thereby bringingpractical benefits to both nations.

For his part, PM Hun Sen said his visit aims tostrengthen bilateral relations, adding that the two countries are exertingefforts to effectively implement cooperation agreements on the basis of theirlong-lasting relationship. 

He took this occasion to thank the Vietnamese peopleand army for their assistance and sacrifice to help Cambodia escape from thegenocidal Khmer Rouge regime in the past. 

The two countries should continue educatingtheir young generations about the values of Vietnam-Cambodia relations, andenhancing the bilateral cooperation through the exchange of all-level visits,he said. 

The Cambodian leader also believed that, withthe support and close coordination between the two legislatures, the traditionalfriendship and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam will obtainnew achievements in the coming time.-VNA
