Tobacco, sugar smuggling on the rise in HCM City

Ho Chi Minh City authorities said that they had found a rising amount of goods smuggled into HCM City since the beginning of June.

Nguyen Van Bach, Deputy Head of HCM City Market ManagementDepartment, said that tobacco and refined sugar are among the mostsmuggled commodities.

The city market managementforces have investigated 24 cases of smuggling cigarettes andconfiscated 23,400 packs, Bach said.

Accordingto the market forces, refined sugar smuggling has been increasing onnational roads in the areas bordering with Tay Ninh and Long An and over1,000 kilograms has been confiscated on the national road No 22.-VNA
