Tien Giang (VNA) – The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang is speeding up the construction of a water facility to supply fresh water to more than 30,000 households in the drought-hit Go Cong Tay and Tan Phu Dong districts.
The project, costing more than 68 billion VND (3 million USD), will install a 10,630 metre water pipeline, running from Dong Tam water plant to Go Cong Tay’s Thanh Tri, Long Vinh and Long Binh communes and the whole of Tan Phu Dong district, according to Huynh Cong Dung, director of Tien Giang Water Company.
The system will have capacity of 11,000 cubic metres per day and night.
The company has utilised its resources to promptly implement the project, Dung said, stressing that more than 9,600 metres of pipeline had been installed.
The project will become operational in July and will help tackle water shortages in localities suffering from drought and saline intrusion.-VNA
