Thua Thien-Hue to boost textile-garment development

Central Thua Thien-Hue province earned about 263 million USD form textile-garment shipments in the first eight months of this year, accounting for 63 percent of the total export value in the period.

The central province of Thua Thien-Hue earned about 263 million USD form textile-garment shipments in the first eight months of this year, accounting for 63 percent of the total export value in the period.

According to the garment and textiles development orientation to 2020, the province will focus on boosting exports, meeting the demand of the domestic market and ensuring the sustainable development of the industry based on modern technology and international standards.

Thua Thien-Hue also targets to become one of the garment and textile hubs of the country’s central region.

From now to 2020, Thua Thien-Hue is aiming for an annual 17.5-18 percent growth rate in the industrial production value of the garment and textile industry and an annual 14.5-15 percent export growth rate.

The figures for 2021-2025 are 15.5-16 percent and 8-8.5 percent, respectively.

The industry is expected to generate 8,300 jobs for local residents in 2015 and 15,500 by 2025.

The province is also attaching importance to fashion and model designs as well as product promotion services.-VNA
