Hanoi (VNA) - This is one of the goals set for the province under the Politburo’s Resolution on the building and developing Thua Thien-Hue until 2030 with a vision to 2045.
The province is also set to become one of the country’s hubs in the fields of science, technology, multidisciplinary education and training, national defence-security.
Thua Thien-Hue is envisioned to become a festival city of Asia by 2045.
During the 2021 -2025 period, Thua Thien-Hue should work to earn the status of a centrally-run city and complete the expansion of Hue city before 2022 as planned.
The province should strive for an annual growth of 7.5-8.5 percent in gross regional domestic product while the total social investment capital will increase by 12 percent each year.
By 2025, the rate of poor households will be reduced to 2-2.2 percent, forest coverage will reach 56 – 57 percent, the rate of trained workers in the workforce at 65-70 percent while all local residents will have access to clean water.
According to the Thua Thien – Hue People's Committee, the resolution stated that after 10 years of implementing Conclusion 48 of the Politburo (10th tenure) on building Thua Thien - Hue to become city under the central government, the province has made great efforts.
The resolution also specifies major tasks to achieve the goals, including stepping up planning and management, attracting and effectively using capital from all economic sectors for socio-economic development, issuing special mechanisms and policies for the rapid and sustainable development of Thua – Thien Hue, and others.
However, there are limitations and shortcomings during the implementation.
Therefore, the Politburo has issued the resolution with the goal that Thua Thien Hue will become a city under the central government by 2025 on the basis of preserving and promoting values of ancient capital’s heritage and Hue cultural identities.

Le Truong Luu, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee, said “the biggest problem is that the province must complete its specific heritage urban work. Next is to continue developing the economy on the basis of conservation, investment in the construction of suburban economic zones, creating favorable conditions for economic development and employment for local people and increasing incomes and budget.”
As for cultural aspect, the province should have a strategic plan to properly assess the potential of heritage, components for conservation, components for development. Because, the experience of the countries in the world shows that the key of this problem is to successfully solve the relationship between conservation and development, according to Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department.

In addition, the locality will focus on adjusting the boundaries of Hue and the region in the province to ensure a development and management system to develop Hue’s future urban status.
Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho affirmed: “Thua Thien - Hue will not develop big cities and large industrial zones, but develop harmoniously between conservation and development, between tradition and modernity. The cultural features are built in harmony between innovation and creativity, on the basis of building new mechanisms between rural and urban. Thua Thien Hue will look forward to an intelligent, eco-friendly urban area.”.
