The central province of Thua Thien-Hue decided to spend 60 billion VND (2.69 million USD) on broadcasting digitisation and digital terrestrial television broadcasting, said Hoang Ngoc Khanh, chief of the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee.
Accordingly, by the end of 2018 all local households would be able to access digital television services, 60 percent of which are terrestrial television services. Meanwhile, fine-tuning and upgrades would be made to the local radio and television stations’ transmitting and broadcasting facilities by 2020.
Apart from raising public awareness and encouraging locals to participate in the project, the province will focus on developing the market and services to put various kinds of transmission into use.
The locality will also create favourable conditions to install cable television and internet television services in residential areas based on fair competition among service providers.
In addition, it will re-organise transmitting and broadcasting sections at the local radio and television stations while snapping up equipment to produce television shows using digital technology and national, standardised terrestrial television receivers.-VNA
